Auto Shut Off
The red light stays on but the iron does not shut heat off. Read where the red light is for power on. How long does it take to turn off automatically? Stayed hot for over an hour.

The red light does not go off. In all the years I've had the iron, it's never been on before. I pressed it on my accident. Just want to know how to turn the red light off.

This is normal.The red button is not a shutoff button, but a reset button. To shut the iron off, turn the temperature control to OFF ( O ) and unplug the iron. See https://www.manualslib.com/manual/64490/Hamilton-Beach-14200.html?page=6.
