I Just Received An E-mail That I Must Sign. This Doc. Was In Google Mail And Is

I just received an important e-mail that I must sigh. it was sent in google mail and is also formatted as a word doc. Google mail will not allow me to sign the e-mail and return the doc. I have tried to save the doc.and sign and return. No luck, I have tried to edit thje doc. then I can sign but it won't save and send. Please help.
