My Dryer Won't Dry.

Roughly two weeks ago on the "optimum dry" setting the dryer ran all night long.  Since then we have noticed that when on this setting the dryer no longer stops on it's own.  The dryer also no longer needs to have the "start" knob turned to begin a load...simply close the door and turn the dial to your selected cycle and it just begins.  Our clothes on regular size, not oversized loads, are taking at least 90 minutes up to 120 minutes to dry.  The dryer is heating and tumbling...what could be the problem?  Is this something we could fix or do we need to call a repair man?
