Can't Connect My Garmin Nuvi 40 To My Mac

I know this doesn't make any sense, but it worked. I'm using an iMac, OSX 10.9. I couldn't connect through the USB port on the back of the iMac. All other devices (USB sticks, trackpad ...) worked fine through the same USB port on the back of the iMac. Just when I was about to give up, I tried the USB port on the keyboard. It worked fine. Go figure.
