Information regarding all available vehicle types and usage modes is listed below. Please note that not all vehicle types and usage modes are available on all devices. Follow the steps listed above for your device to view the available vehicle types for your specific device.
- Car/Motorcycle, Automobile, or Driving: This is the most-used setting that will give you turn by turn directions based on mapping and road information.
- Pedestrian or Walking: This mode is used when you are walking and will avoid highways. This setting will also keep you away from larger roads and will prefer smaller side streets.
- Bicycle or Bicycling: Turn-by-turn street directions. Will recognize smaller roads or side streets but will avoid highways.
- Scootering: Turn by turn directions that will avoid highways but will allow routing on all other road types.
- Bus: If possible, this vehicle type will designate you on a particular area's bus route. This setting also changes the expected speeds and arrival time.
- Emergency: This option will route your vehicle on specified emergency routes, if available.
- Taxi: If possible, this setting will designate routes which are well-traveled by taxis and will also change the expected speeds and arrival time.
- Truck3: This setting will provide turn-by-turn directions using major roads. This setting will also attempt to keep you off parkways or small streets where it would be hard to turn around with a larger vehicle.
- Camper and RV4: This setting will provide turn-by-turn directions using major roads. This setting will also attempt to keep you off of parkways or small streets where it would be difficult to turn around with a larger vehicle.

1The nuvi 295W does not allow you to change the vehicle type, but the usage mode can be changed to Pedestrian by removing the device from the automotive mounting bracket.
2The vehicle type/usage mode on the nuvi 500, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, and 1600 series devices can be changed by following the listed steps or by touching the vehicle type icon at the top of the main menu.
3For all nuvi devices except the nuvi 465T, the truck vehicle type will NOT give low bridge information or weight limits. This option is intended only to keep big vehicles off smaller roads and is not intended for Over-the-Road Transports. The nuvi 465, dezl 560, and dezl 760 devices do have access to height clearances and weight limits provided that you have set the vehicle type to truck mode and have entered a truck profile. For more information on this, please consult the device's owner's manual.
4The Camper 760 and RV 760 have access to height clearances and weight limits provided that you have set the vehicle type to Camper or RV mode and have entered in a Camper or RV profile. For more information on this, please consult the device's owner's manual.
