Garmin 810 Requires Sd Card. Works Without Sd Card, Gives Directions For Routes

Garmin 810 with SD CARD.Works without SD Card, gives directions for routes but no underlying street maps. When SD in, sticks on Loading Maps forever. Holding on/off switch for a few seconds shuts unit off but as soon as I release unit restarts and sticks on Loading Maps. None of this happens without SD Card. Already tried holding down all 3 buttons and going thru set up wizard. No change afterward.

If your Garmin Edge 810 is experiencing issues with loading maps when the SD card is inserted, and the device gets stuck on the "Loading Maps" screen, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Ensure the SD card is properly inserted: Remove the SD card from the Garmin Edge 810 and reinsert it, making sure it is inserted correctly and securely.
  2. Check the SD card for errors: Sometimes, the SD card may have file system errors or corruption. Insert the SD card into a computer and use the appropriate tools to check for errors or perform a disk repair on the card.
  3. Format the SD card: If there are persistent issues, it might help to format the SD card. Please note that formatting will erase all data on the card, so make sure to back up any important files before proceeding. You can format the SD card using your computer or within the Garmin Edge 810 itself (if it has the formatting option).
  4. Update the device firmware: Ensure that your Garmin Edge 810 is running the latest firmware version. Connect the device to a computer, launch the Garmin Express software, and check for any available updates. Updating the firmware may resolve compatibility issues.
  5. Try a different SD card: If possible, try using a different SD card to see if the issue persists. It's possible that the current SD card is faulty or not compatible with the device.
