2002 Gmc Sonoma Start But Not Run

Truck will start and idle for a short while but then die and will die if attempt to increase engine revs.  Have replaced plugs, distributor cap, condenser, mass air handler, mass air sensor, and fuel pump.

Yes, it was checked but I forgot what the code was but it indiicated the Mass Air Control or whatever it is called on the air intake to the carvurator.  It was replaced but didn't make any difference.

This page has alot of useful info for you. it deals with the P0101 code specifically. P0102 and P0103 are related indicating the fuel/air mixture is too lean or rich respectively. (The MAF sensor doesnt have to be bad for the truck to think it is.) The page mentions clogged catalytic converters could be the cause which is both possible and easily checked by putting your hand over the tailpipe to get a feel for how much pressure is coming out, then whacking the cat converter with a hammer. check the tailpipe again for (hopefully) more exhaust flow. Also removing the air filter and seeing if it starts running right is a real easy way to identify where the system is choked off. if you still need assistance, email me and ill put you in touch with someone i consider a GMC guru.

(an engine is basically an airpump run by small explosions. only as much air can come in as what comes out)

If you agree that the answer I provided is correct please remember to "accept" and/or mark it as "helpful" so I know I'm doing a good job. Thank you, I would really appreciate it.
