Troubleshooting New To Me Jimmy

I just bought a 2000 Jimmy 4WD. This morning when I started it, the 4WD light was on and there's a metal on metal sound. I can't seem to disengage or get this light off. Any tips? And do I need to go into a service station for the code to turn my stereo on?
