Open the hood of the 2002 GMC truck and use a clean cloth to wipe down the master cylinder and its hydraulic lines to remove excess dirt.

Use a flare nut wrench to remove the hydraulic lines from the master cylinder.

Use a socket wrench to remove the main bolts securing the master cylinder to the truck. Remove the master cylinder from the fire wall.

Install the replacement master cylinder by placing it into the engine compartment and reinstalling its bolts. Reattach the hydraulic lines and close the hood.
