Is It Common Practice To Replace The Drain Filter On The Gleh1642fs Washer/dryer

I took apart 75%of drain pump/filter.  It was clogged real bad.  Was unable to get last connection off due to need for special plyers.  It be easier and more thorough job to replace drain filter.   Believe pump is ok.   Seems to me that replacement of the drain filter is as common as replacing the air filter on automobile.  Would like recommendation here.  Washer still not draining 100% but better after I cleaned out most of it.  Can I just replace the drain filter and how can I find part to order?
