Hello robertsondwan8, thank you for your post! I understand that your air conditioner is turning on and off rapidly. Here are some simple troubleshooting tips to help resolve this issue:

  • I suggest cleaning or replacing (if necessary) the air filter since restricted air flow from dirty air filter is one of the main possibilities.

  • Make sure there is nothing blocking the airflow to the unit, i.e., drapes, blinds, and, furniture, which could restrict air distribution, clear blockage from in front of unit.

  • If the outside temperature is very hot, set FAN on high speed to bring air past cooling coils more frequently.

  • Confirm that the outside condenser coils are not blocked or dirty. Make sure the condenser coil is clean and not restricted by bushes, trees, debris or winter covers. If unit is a Through-the-Wall model make sure the proper grille has been installed.

  • Verify that the unit is the correct BTU for the room size it is located in. If the unit is too large for the room, it will turn on and off rapidly.

I hope this information helps to some degree.
