How Do You Remove The Drain Pan That Is Attached To The Compressor?

We lost power to our freezer and are trying to clean out the drain tube and pan. We were able to take one end of the drain tube off but can not get the other tube end off. This side of the tube is attached to a drain pan which is attached to the compressor. It looks like the drain pan and tube should come off together from the compressor but we can't do it. There is a lot of stinky liquid in this pan which is making our garage stink.

It should actually come directly off with just pulling the part. Nothing is connected or hindering you from pulling this directly out. I would suggest to try a little more force, and go from there. You do not have to unscrew or unbolt anything.

Hope this helps!

I had the same problem. My drain pan is shaped like a rectangular cup curved on one side with a clip on it that clips to the back of the compressor. You have to push the cup up the back of the compressor about an inch and the clip will slide out of the metal band on the compressor so the cup comes off. BUT, the clip is too near the top of the compressor to slide it up and off without taking the bolts off that hold the compressor down and then taking the rubber grommets (feet) off of the compressor. This allows the compressor to drop down another 1/4 inch and allows you to manouver the compressor enough to get the cup off of it. I had to put the freezer up on 6 inch blocks (by tilting it one way then the other) to be able to get my arm up under the freezer to get one of the compressor bolts off. Difficult but doable. Got the cup and drain hose off, cleaned it all up and put it back on.
