I have successfully installed linux mint. You need to use Linux Mint 13 32-bit.

I just discovered 3 brand new in the box computers and components that I bought for a project and never used and then found this thread while looking for the best Linux option for this old computer that's been sitting in a box since 2012. FYI, after reading this thread I installed Linux Mint 17.3 32bit on my nT-i1200 (since it works so well on some older systems I still have) without issue. The only weird thing was the default video resolution needed to be lowered to see the entire screen after installation. I have 2 others to build now but I think both of those are nT-i1500 so I'm going to try to go with 64 bit on those and see it works on those and I'll also see if the latest version of Mint (19.3 as I'm writing this) will work on those boxes. Also, due to age and capability, I'm going to test xfe to see if that speeds things up a bit. If anyone is still using these, let me know what's working best for you today.
