Information Center Blank

The information center located between the tach and speedometer has blanked out though you can see a dim shrunken image off to the left. Does anyone know where/what needs to be done to fix this? I can live without the mpg and miles to empty information but all trouble notices are there as is the odometer. Also does the computer still track mileage on the car if the display isn't working
