No Dash Or Dash Lights

i installed a cd player then later that day my van was completely dead wouldnt do anything we ended up figuring out that it was a fuse that was blown .. well the next day i started the van and smelled burning wires and seen smoke come from the vents i turned it off right away .. i turned it on later and realized there are no dash lights and none of the guages work... except for the seatbelt light when you start the van.. i re-installed the original stereo back in and have not had any new problems since.. we have checked fuses but have not noticed any blown.. any clue as to whats wrong with my dash and why it dont work or where or what i should be looking for??
