What Is The Space For Behind The Cupholder At The Side Arm?

I have 1998 Explorer XLT. I wonder why there is a bid space, oval, behind the cupholder \. What is this for.

It is a kleenex dispenser. You just buy a travel size kleenex and pull out ur change holder slide the box in and then replace the change holder and that pushes the opening of the package inline with that weird rubber oval slot and bingo bango
