Here is video on how to remove a radiator however the fan is removed in the process and he explains and shows you how to do it. This is a 5.0 motor but the fan removal is the same on the 4.0.

You will either need to buy or rent a special tool from the autoparts store. Its a thin flat wrench with another wrech looking tool that attaches to the end of a wrachet. Just ask for the tool for removing the fan clutch on a ford explorer. Also remember that the clutch is reverse threaded.
