Kinda sounds like the brake lines didnt get bled after the calipers were reassembled if you have poor braking and the pedal is too soft.

If it was on the road for a while after it went metal-to-metal the worn out pads may have ate into the rotors and they arent smooth any more causing noise.

The only other reason i can think of that new pads would be making noise would be if the caliper piston wasnt pushed back in far enough during reassembly causing the pads to be consstantly rubbing but that doesnt really jive with not having much brakes and if that was the case i would think it would have been pretty hard to get the calipers back over the rotors.

Considering you cant bleed the brake lines too often, i recomend pulling the wheels and double checking the rotors while you bleed the lines. And if they feel grooved or scalloped in any way then you need to have a shop turn them on a brake lathe to smooth the surface back out.

If you agree that the answer I provided is correct please remember to "accept" and/or mark it as "helpful" so I know I'm doing a good job. Thank you, I would really appreciate it.
