The Heater And Air Are Not Working In My 97' Ford Escort. Any Ideas Why?

I would first check the carpet on the passenger side of the car and feel if it's wet. If it is the heater core is leaking, if it's not then you either have a problem with that control knob, it should have vacuum lines plugged into it, if not something came un done, or you have a problem with the blend doors, that means it is stuck in a cool mode, and the door is not opening/closing to let the heat in.
