Aftermarket Radio Install
so basically my radio or clock (upper dash) wont keep the memory on it ive hooked up car radios before n have never run into this problem. my battery cable (yellow) and accesory (red) r tied in together if disconnected nothin inside the car works there is a harness but the wires also look like theve been spliced together as well but nothing looks out of place im stumped

well the battery wire needs a constant power or the memory will crap out everytime the keys turned off. If you have a test light handy I would find which wire in the harness is constant power and which one is acc power and go from there. You are right in that they both need to be hooked to 12 volts but they dont have to be hooked to the same 12 volts. You can tie one into the cig lighter if you need to.
