How Do I Remove My Friends Unwanted Photos That Are Showing Up In My Photo Album

Recently, my photo albums have become a collection of every pic that my friends have ever taken. I have not request these pics by tagging or sharing. Yesterday, I added ten new friends and I got ten new albums with over a thousand pics. This is simply ridiculous and I now realize that when a friend requests my friendship, they're getting all of my photos. I consider this a real invasion of my privacy. I really don't want every pic that my friends have ever taken. I want them removed. Please help. I've spoken with several friends and they also have noticed this change just in the past few weeks.
