I have a pre existing Facebook account under a old email from a former workplaces and need to have it changed from to I can't seem to get it done. I don't have the password for the old work email

You don't give us much to go on. Facebook does not delete accounts that are inactive, even if they are deactivated by the user. If you didn't delete the account you should be able to log in, in the normal manner. If however it was deleted, it can't be recovered.

If the above doesn't solve, please resubmit with more specifics. We'll need to know the (exact) text of any error message.
