Why Cant I Inbox Messages From Someone On Friend List Anymore?

I can no longer open messages from my boyfriend who is also on my friend list. Since February 14th - I can only open messages that are sent from his mobile phone. I logged into my Facebook from his laptop and then when I got home, I removed his computer in my security settings and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it...help me please!!
