Why Was I Blocked And Put On A 24 Hour Access Hold?

i was sending messages back and forth from a friend and all of a sudden by account was blocked w no access. then telling me i have to wait 24 hours before i can regain access to my account. i dont understand this. no explainnation was given to me. if i was given a reason it wouldnt be as frustrated as i am now
