My Account Says It Is Unavailable And To Check Back In A Few Minutes.

It has been like this for over two days and I can't access the website at all even to get help or contact information or to even login as a friend.  What does this mean and what can I do?

Try clearing out your browsers cache and history.  SOmetimes they can mess up connections.  Go here for instructions: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache

Beyond that you'll simply need to wait them out.

Facebook has over 500 million users.

The hardware required to manage that many accounts is  massive.  The databases alone are huge and they are on numerous machines scattered about the world.

The result is that there is no way they can maintain 100% uptime.  Occasionally something must be taken offline for maintenance.

What you are experiencing is just site maintenance.  The databases and/or the web servers and other hardware that manage your account are being serviced.

This type of work can take up to 48 hours to complete.  One would think Facebook would have redundant clustered systems but that does not seem to be the case.

There could be other issues as well but since they are less than forthcoming on such things you will simply need to wait it out.  They have no tech support phone number so there is no one you can call.
