Facebook Wants Upload Of Gov't Photo Id. Sounds Like Identity Theft

I've been BLOCKED OUT from my Facebook Page, for NO REASON. Their email and their "HELP CENTER" all expect you to send them an uploaded PHOTO of a Government Photo ID, like a Passport or Driver's License. That sounds extremely suspicious, like some kind of Identity Theft scam. I have to send Facebook Help Center a Photo of my Government Photo ID, just to ask them WHY they have BLOCKED me from my Facebook account, otherwise, I can't even submit my question to them.This seems like some kind of Identity Theft blackmail, where you can't contact fACEBOOK, even to ask why they have blocked your account, UNLESS you send them and "UPLOADED JPEG PHOTO", OF SENSITIVE IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS??? They say they will destroy the picture of your photo id after they verify it. sounds so suspicious to me.WHAT HAPPEN TO PERSONALIZED QUESTIONS? WHY DO I HAVE TO SEND THEM AN IDENTITY DOCUMENT, THAT "SOMEONE" COULD DUPLICATE AND PUT YOUR IDENTITY AT RISK?????

Sorry for your problems. FB has detected a security breach & needs verification to establish who the account belongs to, since it may have been hacked by someone else. File the report here.

I know you asked about Facebook asking for ID about a year ago but I wanted to answer this for the future. Hope this helps you understand.

More than likely someone reported you for something and then you had to show who you are. I know it sounds ridiculous but it happens a lot. Your best bet is to create a new account. With all thr scams out there they want t to make sure you are who you say you are.
