Passport Expire Date

My passport expires on the 1st of December 2014 i am travlleing to Majorca on the 5th of July 2014 . I am aware some countries need the travellors passport to be valid 6 months beyond the date of their intended journey and mine is only 5 months. Will this be a problem? Will i need a new passport?
