Many Dyson's have a reset button for the brush motor. It should be on the vacuum cleaner cover. If you don't see one, then you have to do the alternate way of resetting it. You unplug the vacuum for a minimum of two hours and then plug it back in. It should reset and work correctly. Just be sure you remove anything that may have clogged the brushes to cause the motor to overheat in the first place.
