Dyson Dc07 Clutch Problem?

w within less than a minute of turning the dyson on, the sound gets higher pitched and there is a grinding noise. the pin the belt loops around got very hot but the beater brush was spinning. i had the whole machine apart today with the exception of ther motor assembly. i cleaned everything. i replaced the permanant filter about a month ago. didn't know it existed until the suction got very low and i checked it out. after that, it was back to normal. have always kept up on the washable one. dyson support said it possibly was a clutch-maybe-. do you have a more definite answer so i don't have to blow a bunch of$ at a repair shop? thanks!
