2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Fuel Sensor Malfunctioning
dealer tested on computer and load tested high, engine sometimes goes on but not always, opted not to replace yet as very expensive, wondering if there are other option

What causes fuel sensor failure?
The most common problem that causes the fuel gauge to read incorrectly is a bad fuel sending unit. The fuel sending unit is used to measure the amount of fuel in the fuel tank and communicate the fuel level to the fuel gauge on the vehicle dashboard.
How do I reset my fuel level sensor?
Can you reset your fuel gauge?
Turn your car's ignition to the "on" position to turn its power on without turning the engine on.
From there, press the odometer or trip meter button until the odometer is in "ODO" mode.
Turn off the ignition.
After that, press and then hold the odometer or trip button.
Release the button.
