Broken Keyless Remote

I have a 05 dakota. It has the remote on the key itself. I bought the truck used and found out after buying it that the remote does not work. I want to order a replacement key on line and was wondering on how to program  the remote. My dakota is not set up with the transponder on the key, just the remote on the key. Is it possible to program it myself and not take it to the dealer. The dealer wants $180 for the key and another $95 to program it. I found one online for $60 without the transponder like i need. Please HELP?????????
