I had the same problem. I just bought a 05 stratus sxt that had been smashed and the trunk isnt locking. there is a sensor in the trunck lock mechanism. I unplugged the wires going into the latch lock thingy on the trunk. It was killing my battery. I will get a new trunk and i expect the new one to close and the sensor to read it. I would take the plastic cover off, check the wiring on yours, maybe unbolt the whole thing and check it out. There has to be a simple switch in there somewhere. Or you could unplug the sensor like I did to stop battery drainage, for now.
