To improve system thermal performance I suggest making sure the systems BIOS is up to date with the latest released from Dell.com. When in use, make sure the system is on a solid flat surface and the vents are not obstructed or for a notebook system under considerable use a cooling pad could be implemented to keep the temperature down http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&category_id=7724&~srd=false&~srd=true&sk=Cooling%20pad&scat=prod.
For some more extensive information check out the following guide on the dell support site.
Thanks,
Shawn B
