I Unplug The Vga Cable And Laptop Display Goes Black, How Do I Fix This,

I have Dell M4500 laptop with an NVIDIA. Thi the laptop in clone I have the same display on desktop monitor and on the laptop. When the VGA cable is remove the from the laptop the laptop dispaly goes black. Replace the cable and the desktop display and laptop usually begine to display. With the VGA cable remove I tried pressing FN + F8 to get the laptap display to work, no effect remains black.
