Laptop Not Connected To Net Via Wifi

Is the wifi enabled? There should be a button on the laptop to enable it on the front just to the left of the touchpad. See this doc for details: https://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/late5420/en/SFITS/sfits_en.pdf
Is the wifi adapter enabled in Windows? The version of Windows determine show you check.
If enabled can you detect the access point? The wireless software should show what it sees. You'll need a pass-phrase to connect to "most" access points.
