How Do You Set Up A Secure Network With A Dlink Router?
My D'Link router was set up on an open network. I do not know where to find the information to encrypt my network. Would appreciate any help or advice you could give to a novice older lady who needs to secure her Internet network. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

I cannot give you explicit details since you didn't list your wireless router model. What I can do is direct you to some resources around the Internet that may help.
Basically you will need to log into thr router's administration page (usually http://192.168.1.1) and set up a security protocol and password. If it's supported you should use WPA2 personal. WEP is the least secure. There are many other options such as time limits, MAC address filtering, TCP/IP port filtering, the list goes on. Most folks just set up WPA2 and a password to go along with it and run with that. It will keep out the run of the mill user trying to get a free ride. A hacker intent on breaking in will get in eventually no matter what you do.
