when reposting items for sale the images were not included, is this standard ?

If you submitted an image, it should ordinarily be included. This is however a fairly frequent glitch with Craigslist. Try editing the post and see if that helps. Or you could try adding your picture with the HTML img tag. To do that at no cost you might want to use Google Sites -- see http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/free-multipurpose-web-pages-google-sites/.
