Someone Is Using My E-mail Address

Someone is using my e-mail address to post cars for sale, and they are actually leaving a phone number when I call they do not answer. How did they get access to my e-mail address through you people and how are they able to use it to post ads. What can I do to stop this? Since you have made it impossible to talk to someone at your office.......the e-mail they have taped into I do have ads running right now.

You seem to be confusing us (an independent help site) with Craigslist.

This happens occasionally, very often by accident (someone makes a mistake while typing his/her email address), and unfortunately there's not too much you can do. The problem usually dissipates fairly quickly, as ads automatically expire and the poster of the ad is likely to catch the error before reposting. You may want to create an outgoing message alerting Craigslist responders of the error, or better yet create a filter to block such inquires. (If you don't know how, ask your ISP or direct another inquiry to us at at Help Owl, being sure to provide all details of how you receive your email.)
