I've been searching for DAYS for same answer. i took my 75116 apart and there is a mini 12v battery inside! it's a *Shimastu NP 7.2-12*
Shimastu NP 7.2 12 (12v 7.2Ah) turns out its a pretty common battery and even ordered a replacement from Wal-mart.
Hoping ive helped someone as these Craftsman 75116 - 12 Volt Air Compressor/Inflators are AWESOME!
