Can I Transfer Calls From My Land Phone To My Cell Phone?

I will be away from home one day next week and am expecting an important phone call.  Is it possible to have calls that ring at home (on my land phone) transfer to my cell phone that day?

Usually phone companies have a feature that can forward calls to the home line to any number of your choice.  Call Forwarding is sometimes not on normal installations, so call and make sure your package comes with it.  Since you have Cox, follow these instructions to set it up:
How Call Forwarding Works

You can program your calls to ring at another number. Each time a call  is forwarded your phone will make one short ring and it can still be used to make outgoing calls.

When dialing the "forward to" number, dial it exactly as if you are calling directly. For example:

  • For a local number, you may only need to dial the 7-digit phone number.
  • For a long distance number, press 1 plus the area code.
  • If you have Speed Calling, you may dial one of your codes.
Turning ON the Call Forwarding Service
  1. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
  2. Press * 72 (on a rotary phone, dial 1172).
  3. Listen for the dial tone.
  4. Dial the number where you want your calls forwarded.

Result: When the phone is answered, call forwarding is active.
