Cable Channels Out

about 25 % of our channels our out, screen sometimes says, check back later. What's up?

The "temporary off air, please check back later" message is a result of one of two things. The first possibility is the cable box is out of sync with your cable provider's network and simply needs to be reset. Unplug the power to the cable box for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Give it five minutes to go through its restart cycle before changing channels. If you reset the box and you are still getting the "temporarily off air" message on any channels, it indicates a possible signal issue; meaning that the signal getting to your cable box is not as strong as it needs to be. Make sure all the coax connections to the cable box and the cable outlet on the wall are finger-tight. Are there any splitters on the coax connection? A splitter at the end of its lifespan would cause the above symptoms. If you remove the splitter and connect the cable box directly to the cable outlet, do all your channels work after you reset the box again? If you are still having problems after going through the above troubleshooting steps, it's time to call your cable provider's Technical Support department.
