My Player Wont Turn Off?

Make sure the HOLD switch is not activated (and that you are not trying to charge it when its like that).
To enable the controls, slide the <POWER> switch down to release it from the "Hold" position
RESET the player - use a paper clip to gently press the <RESET> button located on the rear of the player.
