'belt Alert'

Just purchased a 2013 200S Hardtop convertible, and the light/buzzer do not come on when someone sits in the passenger seat without the seat belt fastened. In the owners manual it says 'if equipped" with "Belt Alert".... How do I find out if it is equipped or not? The dealership says it's working as intended... I find it hard to believe a brand new car doesn't remind you if you forgot to fasten your seatbelt!
