What Do I Do?

I have a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country Van (Touring). There is a recall on the key fobs or ignition mod. I have an appointment to get this taken care of but that appointment is 8 days from now. My wife used the van, ran into the house and when she came back out, the van would not start and it says "Damaged Key" in the message center. I started the van with the remote start on the key fob but as soon as you got that key close to the ignition, the van shut off and "Damaged Key" appeared in the message center again. Before I contact the dealership tomorrow morning, what will Chrysler's responsibility be as far as getting the van to the dealership? Will they pay a tow bill? Is there anyway I can bypass what is going on to get the van there? Thank You.

Since this recall is about 5 years old it can't be stated how Chrysler would handle your situation.

Chrysler has issued a recall for up to 154,388 vehicles, including the 2010 Town & Country. The recall documentation states that the ignition key may inadvertently displace from the "Run" position to the "Acc" position while driving.

This movement of the key causes the engine to shut down. This shut down means the power steering and power brakes are no longer active and potentially leading an accident. Only Town & Countrys with a manufacture date between August 3, 2009 and June 17, 2010 are affected. Chrysler is replacing the WIN modules in all affected vehicles.

If you feel this recall affects your 2010 Town & Country, contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 to get assistance & answers.
