- Check the battery: The first thing to check is the battery itself. Use a multimeter to test the voltage of the battery. The voltage should be around 12.6 volts when the engine is off and around 13.8 volts when the engine is running. If the voltage is low, the battery may need to be replaced.
- Check the alternator: The alternator is responsible for charging the battery while the engine is running. Use a multimeter to test the alternator's output. The alternator should be putting out at least 13.8 volts. If the output is low, the alternator may need to be replaced.
- Check the wiring: Check the wiring between the battery and the alternator for any damage or loose connections. Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight.
- Check the drive belt: Make sure the drive belt that turns the alternator pulley is tight and in good condition. A loose or worn belt can prevent the alternator from functioning properly.
- Check the fuses: Check the fuses related to the charging system and make sure they are not blown.
- If the problem persists, it may be best to take your vehicle to a mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.
Please note that if the light stays on even though the battery is charging properly, you may want to check the alternator with a mechanic as the alternator might be damaged.

- Dimmer switch: Check to see if the dimmer switch, located on the headlight switch, is in the correct position. If it's in the wrong position, the lights will only come on when the vehicle is in motion.
- Daytime Running Lights (DRL) module: The DRL module controls the lights when the vehicle is in motion. If the module is malfunctioning, the lights will only come on while the vehicle is in motion.
- Headlight switch: The headlight switch controls the lights. If the switch is faulty, the lights will only come on while the vehicle is in motion.
- Wiring: Check the wiring and connections to the headlight switch, dimmer switch and DRL module for any loose or corroded connections.
- Fuses: Check the fuses for the headlight and DRL systems to see if they are working properly.
It's important to note that these are only a few possible causes of the issue and a proper diagnosis can only be done by a qualified technician. If the problem persists after trying these steps, it is best to take the car to a professional mechanic for inspection.
