How To Fix A Nonclosing Door On A 06 Chrysler 300.

The door of my Chrysler 300 touring will not close due to the opening right above the child lock being pushed up and disabling the hook to fit in that space. Am I able to push the thing that's hindering it manually? I tried manually pushing my finger to make the what looks like a lever up or down. It is the space where the hook like object on the car fits into the door to close it.
