Alternate Way To Disable Alarm

I need to get my car into the shop - something is causing the battery to be drained - but when I try to jump the battery, I cannot disable the car alarm. Other than simply putting the key in the ignition and trying to start it, what other way can I do that? Car won't start yet because the alarm is on.
