Air Conditioner Doesn't Work

My air conditioner won't turn on in my minivan when I turn the button. What can I do or why would that happen?

You can take it to a general mechanic.  He should have the means to fix it.  The cause can be any # of things.  I'll list the most common problem to the least common problem.  Your issue probably fits into one of these.

1)You have a refrigerant leak in the system, and therefore you have no refrigerant left to circulate.  

2)Your compressor is dead or malfunctioning.  This is the pump that circulates the refrigerant.

3)Blown fuse for the air conditioning system.

4)Old circulation lines are deteriorating from the inside, and the bits breaking off are clogging your evaportator (silver canister that removes moisture).

5)Electrical issue with your air conditioning switch.
