2013 Chevrolet Cruze Stuck Getting Stuck In Neutral

My daughter was endangered today when she shifted into Reverse and her car got stuck in the Neutral instead. She had her foot down on the brake and it would not work--nor would it shift into Reverse or Park. She almost rolled into traffic but a barrier was there and stopped the car, but it caused damage to the front side of the car. I have looked for information about this problem and have seen MULTIPLE reports of the same problem that others have experiencedThis was my first time purchasing a car from an American manufacturer and I am afraid my fears are coming true. Now, the question is will Chevrolet be as responsive as Toyota has been in taking responsibility and resolving issues relating to defects with its vehicles? I will not let this rest. I could have loss my child today. The car is also having a problem with the electrical system when an iPhone is plugged in where it locks the screen on the phone and the radio will not work. Again, I have found numerous reports of this problem.
