Fuel Consumption Problem

My 2006 Chevy impala 3.5 flex fuel is using way too much fuel, car is just consuming fuel at unbelievable levels in idle or running full tank only last about 70 miles at best...just had transmission replaced and no one seems to know what problem is any suggestion to what my issue might be
